Join Sedaro as we develop the world’s first digital twin platform for complex systems. Sedaro is hiring a Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineering Intern to help achieve our mission of building infinitely scalable space system simulation software in the cloud.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience developing simulation engines capable of capturing complex subsystem interdependencies. The M&S Engineer has a thoughtful approach to decision-making; knowing when to move fast and when to be thorough.
Desired character traits for this role include autonomy, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and have a strong ability to meet tight deadlines. Each M&S Engineer is motivated to own a project from start to finish and is able to understand the big picture and how it fits within all aspects of the business. This person is familiar with many industry tools and frameworks, including Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, and is able to write clean and maintainable code.

Relevant Technologies:
- Physics-based modeling, simulation, and analysis; data science; verification and validation of models
What you will accomplish:
- Architect and implement efficient, physics-based modeling engines to simulate the coupled dynamics of the space environment and spacecraft systems
- Develop modeling algorithms which leverage a parallelized, distributed compute architecture
- Create and/or collect truth data and leverage third-party tools for verification and validation of modeling engines
- Work with front-end software engineers to develop engaging and valuable visualization and analysis tools
- Identify and resolve bugs and performance issues
Required Qualifications:
- Active enrollment in Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or Physics
- Experience with Git, VS Code, and agile software development practices
- Software development experience, ideally with Python and/or Matlab
- Experience on aerospace-related university projects
Additional Desirable Experience
- Experience with compilers, meta-programming, programming language theory, formal methods, functional programming, type theory, applied logic, etc.
- Strong mathematical background
- PhD or Master’s degree (or progress towards) in Aerospace Engineering or similar
- Experience developing production software systems
