This position is currently expected to be on-site (either Evommune HQ or the laboratory at Alexandria Launch Labs – located a short walking distance from each other) 5 days a week. The Research Associate/Senior Research Associate will be responsible for key in-house wet-lab research for the identification and pharmacological characterization of lead compounds for our discovery programs. The position reports to the Director of Research.
THE POSITION
Research Associate/Senior Research Associate
Evommune is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to support the research and development of investigational products. This role will develop and lead internal high-throughput in vitro screening, as well as contribute to other preclinical research activities, that will advance drug candidates and investigational products. The Research Associate/Senior Research Associate will be involved in the collation of data, authoring reports, and presentation of Evommune preclinical research to both internal and external audiences. Lastly, the Research Associate/Senior Research Associate will be a key member of the internal research team, and will aid in all aspects of laboratory improvement and maintenance, along with the other members of the internal research team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and execution of high-throughput in vitro pharmacology assays, including maintenance of cell cultures, maintenance of small molecule libraries, and analysis of data.
- Timely uploading of HTP in vitro data to internal data base and presenting data to broader teams
- May assist in other laboratory activities including Evommune’s human tissue assay set up, sample analysis (MSD/ELISA), flow cytometry, and sample preparation for qPCR analysis
- In collaboration with the Laboratory team, aid in maintaining laboratory space and inventory
- May aid in training and mentoring of new research staff or research interns
- Recording and filing data, preparing technical reports, and study summaries (as requested)
- Report progress of projects in a timely and concise manner to supervisor
- May independently lead the development and implementation of new assays to support research projects; may independently execute experiments and perform data analyses of moderate complexity; may have responsibility for specific method or study.
- Occasionally provides assistance to and/or mentoring other technical staff.
- Interpret and properly document experimental data, make recommendations for next steps, including the writing of research reports, formal study reports, and protocols.
- Manages personal experimental timelines to meet project and personal goals
- Presents findings at the scientist, department, and site-level.
- Function as part of a collaborative team to support research needs
- Contribute to the optimal functioning of the research team, including implementation of new tools and technologies
Qualifications
- B.A./B.S. 7+ years of laboratory experience (academic and/or industry) or MS+3-4 in a life sciences discipline
- Experience in experimental techniques such as handling of human/animal tissue, cell culture, nucleic acid isolation, qRT-PCR, and ELISAs is required
- Experience in immunology research, including research with primary human immune cells, is highly preferred.
- Experience with high throughput screening, liquid handlers, and FLIPR assays is preferred.
- Must be highly organized, punctual, and precise both in regards to performing of laboratory. experiments as well as maintenance of the laboratory space.
- Ability to work independently and occasionally during non-traditional work hours as may be. required by some experiments, and will need to be self-sufficient in the laboratory.
- Ability to train additional researchers in all techniques performed in the laboratory.
- Possesses effective problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other commonly used computer applications (Zoom, MS Teams, Box, etc.)
- Experience with ELN platforms and dealing with large sets of data.
- Outstanding proficiency in verbal communication.
- Exceptional ability to cross-collaborate and foster interpersonal relationships.
- Superior written communication capabilities.
- Efficient time and priority management skills.
- Adaptable to high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
