About the Opportunity:
- David Zwirner seeks a full-time Production Assistant to provide support and assistance with global exhibitions and production projects. This position reports to the Production and Registration Coordinator.
- Success in this creative and fast-paced role requires experience in and enthusiasm for exhibition logistics, fabrication and design.
Production Assistant | $50-55k
What you’ll do:
- Workshop creative solutions for fabricating artworks and exhibition materials with the production team as a whole
- Research and source materials, vendors, and processes for gallery artists
- Provide support with all stages of planning, budgeting, and implementation of select exhibitions at David Zwirner
- Update and manage various departmental organizational calendars and spreadsheets as projects come in
- Generates technical 2D & 3D drawings to illustrate installation processes for artworks and clarify fabrication specifications for vendors
- Designs client-friendly informational documents, installation manuals and/or maintenance instructions for select artworks, as well as exhibition maps, floorplans and various other visual tools to assist sales, as needed.
- Assemble physical exhibition models, maquettes and mock-ups
- Interpret and manipulate architectural, technical drawings, etc.
- Assist in the production and preparation of vinyl and exhibition signage for gallery exhibitions
- Collect and organize information for editioned artworks and draft NYACAL forms
What we would like you to have:
- The ideal candidate should be self-driven and curious with an passion for art and creative problem-solving
- Bachelors or Masters in Fine Art, Visual Studies, Architecture or Design preferred
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign required
- Working knowledge of Sketchup, Rhino or CAD programs preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary
