Clinical Pharmacology sits at the intersection of preclinical and clinical drug research, contributing to Blueprint’s mission of improving and extending the lives of patients. Clinical pharmacologists participate in designing clinical trials and applying a set of unique computational tools to interpret trial data and predict the results of future trials. As part of this effort, the Clinical Pharmacology group at Blueprint Medicines is seeking a talented 6-month Co-op student interested in applying programming skills to write scripts and create templates to standardize and expedite Clinical Pharmacology related data analysis. In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the Clinical Pharmacology function including clinical and nonclinical data analysis and modeling and simulation to help answer key drug development questions.
What will you do?
We are seeking a 6-month co-op student from July-December 2023, though start and end dates are flexible.
· Become familiar with animal and human pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data formats and standard analysis methods and reporting (e.g., tables and figures).
· Develop data workflows and templated scripts to facilitate clinical pharmacology related data analysis, data visualization and reporting. This work will require collaboration with other functions including Drug Metabolism, Toxicology, Clinical, Biostatistics, Data Management
· Collaborate with clinical pharmacology team members to apply quantitative tools to analyze and interpret experimental results.
On-site expectations: Blueprint operates in a hybrid work environment. The work in this role can be completed remotely, however we encourage the co-op student to come on-site at least 3 days per week.
What minimum qualifications do we require?
· Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline or a master’s or PhD degree in pharmacometrics, quantitative sciences (e.g., computational biology, statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics), engineering, or a related discipline
What additional qualifications will make you a stronger candidate?
· Strong programming and quantitative skills required, R skills are a plus but not required
· Exposure to reaction kinetics, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and biology are a plus
· Exceptional organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to learn rapidly on the job
· Strong team player, with good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively through use of video meeting, email and instant messaging
