The community and clinical psychology program encompasses education programs, women’s initiatives, human rights issues, corporate social responsibility approaches, and other grassroots development tasks in Africa.

Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Our community placements attract about 250 participants annually. Our vision is to give students hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as fantastic natural scenery and wildlife.

The placement focuses on children in poverty, children and young people with disabilities, orphaned children, unemployed youth, women in poverty, people with HIV, people recovering from trauma, addiction recovery, older people, the art sector, education, etc. Clinical placements are also available.

Community psychology refers to the skills and tools that empower us to connect with and work within the local community through various programs and tasks.

We use our social media pages for advocacy work. Our Facebook pages have over 50,000 followers.

Work hours are 6 to 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, empowering our daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.

The start and end dates are flexible, as all programs are ongoing, with many having run since 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours.

Typically, we have 15-40 students from diverse parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate, as well as various professions.

Note that Erasmus+ funding can be applied for the Tanzania training. You can ask your student office about the grant options.
