Definite Term Lecturer, Science and Business Program
The Science and Business Program in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo invites applications for one Definite Term Lecturer position. The initial appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional two or three years. Beyond that, promotion into a Continuing Lecturer position is possible. The expected start date is July 1, 2023.
Applicants must have a PhD in science (or equivalent), as well as an MBA and/or significant business/industry/corporate experience combined with significant training and experience in emerging technologies including but not limited to any of the following fields: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Data Science, Blockchain, and 5G. Applicants are strongly preferred to have some experience teaching applied science and business courses at the University level. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate science and business education and excellent organizational and communication skills. We are particularly interested in candidates who have the potential to take a lead role in mentoring, advising, and engaging with students, and those who are familiar with modern pedagogical methods aligned with the latest research methods in innovation, technology development, biotechnology, emerging technologies, strategy analysis/formulation and business. This position will normally have a teaching load of six one-term courses per year and administrative duties as determined by the Director, Science and Business Program. Teaching duties include but are not limited to instructing undergraduate Science and Business workshops and courses for students at all levels in Science and other Faculties.
The starting salary range is $80,000 – $110,000 and will be commensurate with experience; negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
