Weissman International Internship Program Grant
Overview
The Weissman International Internship Program was established by Paul (’52) and Harriet Weissman to help foster Harvard College students’ understanding of the global community in which they will live and work. The program provides financial support for full-time overseas internships arranged and proposed by returning Harvard College undergraduates. Since 1994, Weissman internships have offered exceptional opportunities for professional, intellectual, and personal growth through a combination of work and cultural immersion. More than 500 students have pursued internships in over 80 countries on six continents. Internship fields have included arts and architecture, business, education, environment, government and politics, health and medicine, law, media, public service, and science and technology. Students conduct internships in any professional area, including the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, and in any geographic region outside the United States.
The Weissmans remain involved in the internship experience, and recipients attend a pre-departure luncheon in the spring and post-experience luncheon in the fall with the Weissmans, fellow grant recipients, and various Harvard faculty members and administrators.
Students who have arranged an independent internship or volunteer opportunity and would like to be considered for funding through the Weissman International Internship Program should apply through the Independent Internships and Volunteer Opportunities funding category at the Mignone Center for Career Success.
