In what ways has HES impacted your career and long-term professional goals?
In all ways. I began HES with a goal of following the path of my curiosity. With the help of my brilliant professors and TAs, I found a new life path through writing. USC’s SCA is perhaps the best screenwriting program in the world, and I’m confident that I wouldn’t have earned a spot without the knowledge and experience I gained at HES. (The recommendation letter from one of my HES professors surely helped, as well!) Getting my bachelor’s degree at HES quite literally changed my life.
What advice do you have for HES students now that you have graduated?
Attending college at 18 works for some but not all students. After completing the undergraduate track, I believe that the wealth of experience that comes with age was the ideal way for me to learn, process, and digest the material presented in my courses. My advice to student’s with an already full plate is to tackle the courses in your own time. Even one class a semester is enough to remain committed and focused.
