In what ways has Harvard Extension School impacted your career and long-term professional goals?
Harvard Extension School has significantly influenced my career trajectory and long-term professional goals by equipping me with the strategic, financial, and analytical tools essential for navigating complex investment landscapes. Through coursework in hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, and financial accounting, I developed a solid foundation that I’ve directly applied in my roles at Nova Capital Partners and Horizontal Land Partners, where I lead institutional capital formation and structure high-stakes, frontier-market transactions. Being a finalist in the Harvard/MIT Case Competition and an active participant in the Harvard Innovation Labs reinforced my ability to apply theory in competitive, real-world scenarios, while also sharpening my entrepreneurial mindset and collaborative problem-solving skills.
The program’s emphasis on analytical rigor and strategic frameworks—such as Porter’s Five Forces and TAM/SAM/SOM modeling—has been instrumental in shaping my investment theses, underwriting models, and capital raise strategies. Moreover, Harvard’s global, interdisciplinary environment has expanded my perspective and commitment to socially conscious investing, as reflected in my work on energy, healthcare, and education finance initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. Ultimately, Harvard Extension School has not only enhanced my technical proficiency and strategic thinking, but has also deepened my ambition to lead innovative, impact-driven investment platforms that align institutional capital with long-term global value creation.
As a recent graduate of Harvard Extension School, my advice to current students is to approach the ALM in Management program not just as a degree, but as a platform for strategic career pivoting—especially in the context of today’s rapidly evolving job market. With the rise of AI and automation, many entry-level roles are already disappearing, and this trend will only accelerate. That reality makes it essential to build a skill set that goes beyond the basics and positions you for mid- to high-level problem-solving roles. The ALM in Management program is uniquely positioned to help students do just that, precisely because it is accredited as a liberal arts degree rather than an MBA. That flexibility allows students to tailor their experience, engage deeply with both quantitative and strategic thinking, and build an adaptive toolkit for navigating uncertainty.
