In what ways has HES impacted your career and long-term professional goals?
My ALM degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology has deepened the knowledge I practice and share with my clients as an Executive Coach. It has also elevated my expertise and reputation. This degree supported me in evolving my practice and helping individuals and teams become more effective at work and more satisfied in their work lives.
What advice do you have for HES students now that you have graduated?
Like many things in life, what you get from an ALM reflects what you put into the degree. Choose class electives that fascinate you and allow you to apply them in your current (or near future) life. The insights and lessons stick with you more as an adult learner when they can be applied and used. The classes become richer and more interesting when you are practically invested in them (vs. theoretically).
Also, leverage the many WhatsApp chats that exist for the various degree programs and specific classes. Your fellow students have many insights and advice on the programs, classes, professor’s teaching styles, workloads, etc. Some of my favorite elective classes came as recommendations for phenomenal HES professors!
