Internship Opportunity: Development Department at the Metropolitan Opera
Description of the Position: Are you passionate about the arts and eager to make a meaningful impact in a world-class organization? The Metropolitan Opera Development Department is offering a unique internship opportunity for one Harvard student. Join us in our mission to raise over $170 million annually and play a crucial role in our Patron and Young Associate programs—the heart of our fundraising efforts.
In this internship, you will have the chance to work on a project crafted specifically to align with your skills and interests. Whether you’re fascinated by data analysis, strategic planning, donor engagement, or innovative revenue strategies, we will design a project that not only challenges you but also allows you to contribute directly to our development goals. You might explore new approaches to increase revenue, engage with donors, or enhance our Moves Management processes. The vibrant atmosphere of the Met’s opera season will be in full swing during January, providing a rich backdrop for your work and offering you the opportunity to experience operas for free if you’re in the city.
Position Type: Flexible to the applicant’s preference (remote, hybrid, or in-person).
Skills/Experience Desired:
- A passion for the arts
- Inquisitive and creative mindset
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of CRMs like Tessitura is a plus but not required

***This position is part of the MCS 2024-2025 Arts & Museums January Internship Program. The program is a valuable chance for currently enrolled Harvard College students to complete a three-week, project-based internship in the Boston area during the January term (January 6th – January 24th, excluding Martin Luther King Jr. Day). MCS will offer a $750 stipend as well as on-campus housing to any student who completes a winternship. Please note that some internships may be virtual or take place outside of Boston.
