Climate Journalism Intern
Run On Climate, a nonprofit focused on accelerating the adoption of climate policy at the municipal level in communities across the country, is seeking a journalism student to join our team for a spring internship.
Unfortunately, many of the innovative and ambitious climate policies being passed in municipalities around the U.S. are not being covered by the media. Run On Climate supports the work of local elected officials around the U.S. who are actively pushing — and passing — bold climate policies regularly. In order to maximize the impact of these policies, it’s critical that the story of how they passed and what they do is told. Hearing that story can help others work to pass similar policies in their own community.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled spring intern to join our team to write (or otherwise storytell) about exciting and cutting edge municipal climate victories and how they were achieved – and/or where they could have been stronger. We will give you context, contacts, and direction for each story and provide you with assistance and guidance along the way.
Skilled journalist students who are motivated to have an impact on the climate crisis are highly encouraged to apply.
This is an unpaid internship- that being said, we are willing to work with you to gain credit for this experience or find stipend opportunities through the university. We are flexible on # of hours/week as well as on virtual vs. in person. We have a group of spring interns focusing on other aspects of our work, so you would be part of a great team of students!
