The Peace Corps is a service opportunity for motivated changemakers to immerse themselves in a community abroad, working side by side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation.
The Peace Corps two-year program is often called life-defining by the more than 230,000 Americans who have served. Get the chance to fully integrate into a host country community, where you will live and work on projects ranging from education to business development.
Peace Corps service can be the first step toward a career or the continuation of a life’s work. Sharpen your skills in a field you’ve always loved, or challenge yourself with a new opportunity. Volunteers go to work every day excited by the opportunity to make change.
Volunteers work in a variety of sectors including:
- Community Economic Development (Business)
- Youth Development
The Peace Corps provides each Volunteer with housing and a living stipend that enables them to live in a manner similar to people in their community of service. Unlike other international volunteer programs, there is no charge to participate in the Peace Corps. There is no application fee, although costs may only be partially covered for required medical examinations during the application process.
Upon completion of two years of service, the Peace Corps provides each Volunteer with more than $10,000 (pre-tax) to help with the transition to life back home. This money is yours to use as you wish. The Peace Corps also offers a myriad of graduate level fellowships to Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Tuition costs are steeply discounted or eliminated in return for community service internships. Over 200 graduate schools participate in this program across all six sectors: health, education, environment, agriculture, community economic development, and youth development.
Interested candidates are encouraged to connect with Mike Black, firstname.lastname@example.org, for any questions.
