The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is an intergovernmental agency which operates under the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It facilitates co-operation among countries with advanced nuclear technology infrastructures to seek excellence in nuclear safety, technology, science, related environmental and economic matters and law.
The NEA Division of Nuclear Technology Development and Economics (NEA NTE) provides the Secretariat for and implements the program of work of the Committee for Technical and Economic Studies on Nuclear Energy Development and the Fuel Cycle (NDC).
NEA NTE is offering an internship starting in Spring 2026 to support the team of the Generation IV International Forum’s (GIF) Technical Secretariat (TS). GIF is an international cooperation framework focused on coordinating and jointly advancing Research and Development efforts to support the deployment of Generation IV nuclear energy systems. The NEA provides Technical Secretariat services to GIF. The internship assignment will be mainly focused on (1) supporting various working groups, including (but not necessarily limited to) the GIF Education and Training Working Group (ETWG) and the Proliferation Resistance and Physical Protection Working Group (PRPPWG); (2) supporting the communication efforts aimed at presenting the work of GIF to international audiences; and (3) supporting a publication of the Non-Electric and Cogeneration Applications (NECA) Working Group. This internship is suitable for students having a good understanding of nuclear technologies and of international cooperation. Applicants should be in their third to fifth year of university.
Key tasks include:
- Assisting the TS for PRPPWG and ETWG (taking notes and drafting first versions of minutes, researching, preparing communication materials for webinars and uploading them to the GIF website, maintaining the GIF YouTube channel).
- Assisting the TS Chief of Staff and the GIF Communications Director to prepare communication materials about GIF activities (summarizing GIF reports, looking for new information and mapping relevant initiatives to monitor for GIF, monitoring news on Gen IV technologies).
- Supporting the migration of GIF files and folders to SharePoint (and supporting the establishment of a solid file system).
- Supporting the preparation of the next GIF Experts Group and Policy Group Meeting. 5. Supporting the drafting and formatting of GIF publications.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the GIF TS Chief of Staff.

- The internship duration is between 4 and 6 months (renewable up to a total of twelve months) with a EUR 1,000 stipend per month.
