About the role

Nextera Robotics is a fast-growing Industrial Robotics and AI company founded at MIT. We develop and deploy extensive fleets of purpose-built industrial robots. We are building a future where AI-native robots handle all the repetitive and physically demanding tasks. Nextera has a client base among Fortune 500 companies. Working at Nextera is a great opportunity for those who love to get things done.

We are a fast-paced, highly technical organization. Our teams are kept small and agile to limit layers of unnecessary processes. Autonomy is expected. Every engineer gets to see their work transition from ideas to high-value products. The work is challenging but highly rewarding.

Role: Play a significant part in the development of planning and control software for autonomous mobile robot stack. Nextera’s next-generation autonomous robots are being deployed in a variety of environments – from warehouses to production floors, to construction sites. You will take part in the development of robust navigation techniques for our new robot models and work with our engineering team in Boston to bring the products to life.

Required:

  • Proven experience with localization, planning, and/or controls for drones or mobile robots in academia or industry.
  • Strong CS, Mathematics, or Physics background
  • Excellent programming skills
  • Familiarity with simulation tools
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Visual SLAM, lidar-based SLAM, Factor Graphs, ROS, CUDA, lidars, sensors fusion, 3D reconstruction, calibration, computer vision, path planning and controls algorithms
  • Strong math skills, familiarity with mathematical optimization in the context of autonomous navigation and computer vision
  • M.S. or PhD

We’ll be very excited to learn more about you and welcome you to the Nextera Robotics team!
