AppMana, an MIT Media Lab spinoff backed by 8VC, is seeking a CS/arts background current student or recent grad for: developing an original video game. This position is an apprenticeship in developing your own games. You’ll finish a high quality minigame by the end of your time with us. These are comparable to games we developed for Nike, Hyundai, Samsung and other customers of our experimental gaming platform.
Previous apprentices have gone onto work for Niantic, Google, Snap, Meta, Stripe and have seen their work published on a variety of outlets, like the Washington Post, the New York Times and more. You will be working with the CEO, who has directed games for Niantic, Meta, Mozilla Foundation and more.
Daily enrichment will feature a curated list of research papers, video games, board games, and visual media; evenings out with local indie game developers; and outdoor fun in San Francisco. The enrichment activities should be comparable to a week’s worth of papers in an Applied Math course, a week’s worth of film screenings in a film course and a week’s worth of readings in a history of science course.
This position is compensated comparable to academic stipends with flexible hours. The primary purpose of the San Francisco-area natives strongly encouraged to apply—we’re funded to provide opportunities for local creatives!
