We are seeking a GNC Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC. The right candidate is proficient in MATLAB and Simulink, comfortable working with spacecraft dynamics models, and has working knowledge of attitude estimation and control fundamentals. This role centers on simulation development, performance analysis, and operating the GNC software suite that underlies our test programs. You’ll become the team’s reference person for simulation studies and GNC-code integration. We’re a close-knit, mission-aligned team that likes building side by side in our DC office, and we’re looking for someone with startup DNA who moves fast and wants real ownership of the hardware flying on the next generation of spacecraft. With an oversubscribed funding round just closed and several high-stakes projects underway with NASA and the U.S. Space Force, we’re paving the way for the future of spaceflight, and this is your chance to help build it from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain 6-DOF spacecraft simulation models in MATLAB and Simulink, including rigid-body dynamics, sensor models, actuator models, and disturbance environments.
- Conduct performance studies for mission scenarios — pointing, slew, RPOD, and others — and produce well-documented results for internal trade studies and customer deliverables.
- Read, modify, and extend the GNC software suite used across our test programs; become the team’s reference person for its input scripts, configuration, and outputs.
- Set up and execute SIL and MIL test campaigns; analyze results, identify failure modes, and iterate on models alongside the GNC and flight software leads.
- Develop tooling around batch runs, Monte Carlo analyses, and post-processing.
- Partner with the mechanical, electrical and controls engineers so simulation models evolve with the hardware.
- Document model assumptions, validation evidence, and performance results in a form suitable for both internal review and customer deliverables.
- Support proposal and contract work with quick-turn analyses that translate customer requirements into runnable scenarios.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to work on cutting-edge space mechanisms and GNC with real defense and commercial applications.
- A high-energy, in-person team in DC that genuinely loves building together: collaborative, ambitious, and mission-aligned.
- Meaningful equity and real ownership: competitive salary plus an equity stake in a fast-growing, well-backed company, so you share in the upside you help create.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k), health insurance with dental and vision, paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, paid parental leave, and a free on-site gym.
- Flexible work schedule.
- Relocation assistance.
- The chance to make a real, visible impact on the future of space exploration. Your work will go to space!
