About the role
Greenmantle is looking to hire a full-time Director of Latin America in our New York office. This position is for an in-person role in our New York office. The successful candidate will have responsibility for:
- Leading research and analysis on international political and economic trends—with a strong emphasis on applied history, scenario analysis, and probabilistic thinking
- Tracking political debates, electoral cycles, economic dynamics, and financial performance of and in key geographies
- Assessing the implications of Latin American political and macroeconomic risk as it relates to global markets
- Producing regular deliverables, including regular written reports and in-depth presentations through a combination of quantitative, qualitative, and real-time, in-country research
- Overseeing quality and timely publication of regional research, including collaboration with other regional Directors and our Director of Research
- Editing of research produced in-house and by external contributors, with impeccable attention to detail and English writing skills
- Presenting research to clients through regular meetings and calls; articulating in-house views and forecasts confidently, effectively, and concisely
- Building a high-level network in geographies covered
- Assisting team members in research, data analysis, and operational tasks as necessary
We are looking for someone with a strong command of Latin American politics, macroeconomics, and finance.
Requirements for the role
We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in politics and history, intellectual curiosity, and demonstrated ability to produce excellent analysis and communicate insights effectively. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Degree in relevant field, including but not limited to history, Latin American studies, economics, and political science
- Proven track record as an excellent manager, researcher, and writer; immaculate attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical skills. Able to identify salient issues and trends quickly and present information clearly
- Thorough knowledge of Latin American politics and economics
- Excellent data analysis skills and familiarity dealing with large datasets. Excel and PowerPoint skills required; other data analysis skills a plus
- Basic understanding of financial markets; demonstrable interest in the industry a plus
- Fluency in Spanish; fluency in Portuguese or other languages is a strong plus
- Ability to work efficiently, both independently and in a team environment, and prioritize work on tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- At least a 3.6 GPA or equivalent in university. All degrees are welcome. Numerical literacy and excellent writing skills are required. Advanced degrees are recommended.
