Summary

Art in Tanzania is developing youth football and supporting the talent development of football academies, in collaboration with its partners.

Details

Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Our community placements attract about 250 participants annually. Our vision is to give students hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as fantastic natural scenery and wildlife.

Football is Tanzania’s national sport. There is enormous potential for young, talented girls and boys. However, producing professional football players is challenging due to low economic and coaching capacities.

This program is a joint effort with our partners, the Briessfull Stars Organisation, which comprises retired top Tanzanian football professionals, and 7Elity Academy from Utah, USA. 7Elity Academy has branches in the UK and South Africa and is connected to top-tier football clubs worldwide.

We are seeking interns and volunteers to assist with coaching, ball, and physical training activities, as well as promote good nutrition, hygiene, and other public health initiatives among young players.

Participants also help with village and school sports activities.

We use our social media pages for advocacy work. Our Facebook pages have over 50,000 followers.

Work hours are 6 to 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, empowering our daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.

The start and end dates are flexible, as all programs are ongoing, with many having run since 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours.

We typically have 15-40 students from diverse parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate, as well as various professions.

The Benefits and Perks are as follows:

Accommodation and meals are personal expenses. For 1-13 weeks, EUR 175 per week covers accommodation with breakfast and dinner, the student compound facilities, and professional tutoring. From week 14 onwards, the cost is EUR 125 per week.

The airport transfer is EUR 60 one-way and is a personal expense.

A charity visa for immigration, which costs USD 50, is a personal expense. A multiple-entry visa for less than 12 months is USD 250.

We pay interns a USD 50 monthly stipend, which is small but 2x Tanzania’s national minimum wage.

 Flights are a personal expense.

Local transport, if any, is a personal expense.
