Finnegan IP University

Program Description

Finnegan IP University is a free virtual series that introduces participants to exciting career opportunities available as Technical Specialists at Finnegan, a leading intellectual property (IP) law firm based in Washington, DC. Technical Specialists are hired with specific STEM majors, are not pursuing a career in law, and are graduating with computer science, engineering, and chemistry degrees, as well as graduate students in life sciences. Finnegan is committed to attracting a strong pool of diverse candidates.

What will I learn?

Finnegan IP University consists of a four-week educational program (Wednesday evenings for four consecutive weeks beginning February 5, 2025 (5:00 to 6:30 pm ET) that covers the nuts and bolts of the U.S. patent system. Through this program, participants will learn many fundamentals of IP practice, including the various types of IP rights, the basics of drafting patent applications, and how those applications are prosecuted before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Participants will have an opportunity to meet and network with IP professionals at Finnegan to gain an understanding of what it means to be an IP and patent attorney, and the endless possibilities that a career in IP offers.
