Tony N. Woolard, ALM Biology

Where will you be living next year, and what will you be doing?
Bristol, CT – I will be working as an intellectual property attorney with a primary concentration in patent law. In 2021, I founded Woolard & Associates, LLC, in the state of Connecticut where I intend on assisting clients with contract, patent, trademark, and copyright matters.

What advice do you have for Harvard HES students, now that you have graduated?
Work at your own pace. I started the ALM Liberal arts program at Harvard Extension School in 2016. After I started law school in 2017, it became difficult to complete my degree responsibilities. But I took my time and made sure that I completed the course work. So as you embark on the journey towards obtaining your degree it is important to remember that everyone’s circumstances are different. Be patient, be realistic, and stay positive. You can do it!

In what ways has your Harvard Extension degree impacted your career?
My master of liberal arts degree has provided me with an enhanced scientific background which is essential in the technical field of patent law. Some patent professionals have a PhD or doctorate equivalent in a scientific discipline, but my Masters degree at the Harvard Extension School made me competitive against some of the top candidates in this unique legal niche.
