Simon Liang, ALM Biotechnology

Where will you be living next year, and what will you be doing?
Boston, MA – I am working as a Senior Scientist at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research after being promoted prior to finishing my thesis research.

What advice do you have for Harvard HES students, now that you have graduated?
As an advocate for Lifelong Learning, I suggest Harvard HES students choose fields that they are deeply passionate about while maintaining the drive to the finish line. It is not an easy journey. I’d highly recommend making the most of the resources available since the options are limitless. Regardless, it will require a lot of time, effort, determination, support, and motivation to finish, but it is well worth it in the end.

In what ways has your Harvard Extension degree impacted your career?
It has broadened my skill set to allow me to become a better independent scientist and think on my own two feet. My time at the Harvard Extension School has opened new doors and connected me with a vast network of passion-driven individuals like myself as well as reconnected with old colleagues in support of their future career endeavors.
